JOSHUA THOMAS

ONE OF A KIND

WRITTEN BY JOSHUA THOMAS

It’s a lot to say
I’m looking for someone new
And is this the voice
They’ll want to say hello to?

Each day
I’m walking an angled line
What’s it mean to say
I miss the time…

But I ain’t gonna crawl or plead
On my late-thirties knees
I’m fine

Took a break today
And turned to the TV set
A reality show
Sad hetero monsters again

What a simple thing
Finding the real good love
Are we living time
On a comical ride that we can’t get off of?

But I ain’t gonna call on you
While I scream about fools

I’m fine
I am holy
I’m difficult
And I’m one of a kind

Left the bed unmade
Switched on the lonely light
Hummed a melody like electricity
Volcanic tonight

All the wings outside
Dead ‘til the morning came
They don’t seem to feel the loss of something real
Like when you changed your name

And though it might be a thaw or freeze
It’s an almost mythical release

I’m fine
I am holy
I’m difficult
And I’m one of a kind
